12" Base Cabinet Door/Drawer Combo (Momplex White Kitchen)

Step 1

First, create the side panels - remember that the two side panels are mirrors of each other.

Then attach the bottom shelf to the two side panels.

Next, attach the back and front supports underneath the bottom shelf.

Then, attach the top supports.

We built the face frames seperately on the table with 3/4" pocket holes and 1-1/4" pocket hole screws. Check the outside dimensions as well - it's very important that your face frames are precisely made and square.

We finished the face frames seperately (painted them) and then attach the prefinished face frame to the cabinet through the predirlled pocket holes. On the bottom, we had to attach with nails and glue because it's impossible to get a drill in there.

Step 8

For the shelves, we basically duplicated the bottom fixed shelf, but trimmed off 1/4" in width and depth to allow for shelf pins and edge banding.

Step 9

For a full overlay door, we used 1-1/4" concealed Euro hinges, and these were the measurements for the door and drawer face. I will be adding a post on the drawer installation and the door hinge installation soon.

Finishing

Sand all surfaces, starting with a medium grit and finishing with fine. Wipe off the dust, fill any holes or gaps with wood filler, and sand smooth once dry. Apply primer if you're painting, then finish with your choice of paint or stain and seal with a durable clear topcoat. For outdoor projects, use exterior-rated primer, paint or stain, and sealer so the piece stands up to the weather.
