Step-by-step Instructions

1

Cut the 1x12 tabletop boards.

Lay flat and measure the width. Note this width - if it does not match the diagram, you will need to make cut adjustments as noted in the cut list. If you have a pocket hole jig, join the tabletop boards with 3/4" pocket holes and 1-1/4" pocket hole screws.

Adjust cuts if necessary for the remaining frame pieces. Assemble the frame.

Let dry on a level surface. Fill hole with wood filler and let dry. Sand off sanding residue. TIP: For a two tone finish, paint or stain the frame now, but keep top raw for gluing to the tabletop in later steps.

Finishing

Sand all surfaces, starting with a medium grit and finishing with fine. Wipe off the dust, fill any holes or gaps with wood filler, and sand smooth once dry. Apply primer if you're painting, then finish with your choice of paint or stain and seal with a durable clear topcoat. For outdoor projects, use exterior-rated primer, paint or stain, and sealer so the piece stands up to the weather.
