Spacing Saving Wall Bike Rack
Store more bikes in less space with this simple DIY wall-mounted bike rack. By staggering the hooks, you can hang a bike about every 12 inches instead of the usual 24, making it a smart solution for busy garages. This is especially great for families with different sized bikes or lots of bikes. Built from just two 2x4s, a few wall hooks, and screws, this project is easy to build, easy to mount, and much simpler than installing individual hooks one at a time.!

Step-by-step Instructions
Step 1
Build the frame on the ground with two screws per joint.

Step 2
Add hooks to the frame, spacing is for standard bikes but can be adjusted for different sized bikes.

Step 3
Hang the bike frame on the wall, so the bottom row of bikes clear the floor. Minimum four screws into studs in the wall.

Finishing
Sand all surfaces, starting with a medium grit and finishing with fine. Wipe off the dust, fill any holes or gaps with wood filler, and sand smooth once dry. Apply primer if you're painting, then finish with your choice of paint or stain and seal with a durable clear topcoat. For outdoor projects, use exterior-rated primer, paint or stain, and sealer so the piece stands up to the weather.
