Doll Bed and Trundle
My daughter decided she wanted a trundle to store things for her doll (and in case her doll wants to have a sleepover). The regular plan doesn't leave enough space under the bed to allow for a trundle, so I modified it by making two headboards and making the bed a little longer. The Trundle is a simple box with ball bearing casters on the bottom.

Step-by-step Instructions
Step 1
Build the bed with the instructions from the original bed plan ( you will build TWO HEADBOARDS and the bed frame will be a little longer. Attach the bed frame ~4 3/4" up from the bottom of each leg (measure to double check as this measurement may vary if you use something different than 5/8" roller ball bearings and 1/4" plywood--you may even want to build the trundle before doing this step to make sure of your fit).

Step 2
Then build the Trundle by making a box similar to the way you made the bed frame only with (4) 1x4 pieces. Nail the 1/4" plywood on the bottom of the box all the way around. Then nail the ball bearings on each corner. This plan makes a trundle that hides under the bed slightly if centered. You could make the top/bottom trundle pieces 14" and the 1/4" plywood 20 1/2" x 15 1/2" if you want the trundle to be the same size as the bed.

Step 3
You could cut out two sets of panels and legs from the original plan (just make sure and cut a longer bed frame) and make one tall bed that fits a trundle and the short bed can stack on top of the tall bed.

Finishing
Sand all surfaces, starting with a medium grit and finishing with fine. Wipe off the dust, fill any holes or gaps with wood filler, and sand smooth once dry. Apply primer if you're painting, then finish with your choice of paint or stain and seal with a durable clear topcoat. For outdoor projects, use exterior-rated primer, paint or stain, and sealer so the piece stands up to the weather.
