Over Stove Wood Shelf
Add easy storage and warm wood style to your kitchen with this slim stove shelf. Designed to sit neatly over a freestanding range, it keeps spices, utensils, and small decor right where you need them—without crowding the space. The clean, minimal design fits beautifully in white or light kitchens and is sized for a close, built-in look around the stove. Super simple to build with basic tools and common lumber, this shelf is a quick project that makes a big visual and functional upgrade. Size to fit your range perfectly, or size larger (as we did) to make everything feel a little less cramped. Can be used with the lip at the back, or the lip at the front - whichever is works best for you. from Ana

Finishing
Sand all surfaces, starting with a medium grit and finishing with fine. Wipe off the dust, fill any holes or gaps with wood filler, and sand smooth once dry. Apply primer if you're painting, then finish with your choice of paint or stain and seal with a durable clear topcoat. For outdoor projects, use exterior-rated primer, paint or stain, and sealer so the piece stands up to the weather.
