Side Hutch (Rebecca Media Suite)

Step 1

Start by building the box. You can use either 11/4 ph screws or 2" countersunk screws and glue.

Step 2

These are for support and also act as drawer guides if you use drawers.

Step 3

Build the face frame first if you have a pocket hole jig. Otherwise attach with 2" finish nails and glue. Note to attach face frame to side overhangs are in opposite so you end up with a left and right hutch.

Now add the top. Easy step.:)

Now crown... Cut to fit, mirroring corners.

Finishing

Sand all surfaces, starting with a medium grit and finishing with fine. Wipe off the dust, fill any holes or gaps with wood filler, and sand smooth once dry. Apply primer if you're painting, then finish with your choice of paint or stain and seal with a durable clear topcoat. For outdoor projects, use exterior-rated primer, paint or stain, and sealer so the piece stands up to the weather.
